for love of the sport

We invested in MyRacehorse because we love the sport. Getting payback is nice but we look at this as a fun and educational hobby. The horses' health is a top concern to us and MyRacehorse seems to have horses conscientiously tested when something seems not right. While disappointing when a horse has to be retired, we'd rather that than the horse breaking down on the track. We intend to continue modest investing. Thank you, My Racehorse for the opportunity.

MyRacehorse Thank you Linda. We always strive to do best by the horse. These equine athletes are incredible and try so hard for us, and they deserve to be respected and taken care of to the best of our ability. Glad you are enjoying the experience!

Jockey Goggles with Gary Stevens

I worked at Longacres Racetrack as a groom between 1972 - 1982. I remember Gary Stevens as a new & upcoming jockey. I really enjoy his perspective of the horses in the races he covers. I loved working at the track & always wanted to have a racehorse. MRH has allowed me to finally realize my dream. Thanks for a great experience that takes me back to a time in my life filled with wonderful memories.

MyRacehorse Kimberly, thank you for your feedback. We are very excited to partner with Gary Stevens to gain his incredible perspective on our races. Glad to have you as part of the MRH team!

Love It!

Soooo much fun riding the ups and downs of being an owner! The inside information and detailed updates on my horses is second to none. The team at MyRacehorse are great with communication, and obviously passionate about there horses, owners, and the business. At track events they are friendly and love to talk all things horse racing from the restaurant offerings, to the stats on the form. Being an owner has been a great experience in general, but best of all it has elevated my race days to an all time high!

MyRacehorse Chris, thanks so much for the great review! We are so happy to have so many owners like you as members of the MRH family. Can't wait to see you out at an event in the near future!

Why do we keep running horses on the turf

Why do we keep running horses on the turf

Just a question? Why do our trainers continue to waste races on the turf? We have seen Collison Illusion, Provocateur', Frosted Oats and now Carothers run on the grass. I thinks our trainers are to quick to worry about their strides and gallop out. It has been a HUGE failure and as a Cross Country Coach they need to go back to to the basics. Running the orse mentioned above on the turf is a waste of time.

MyRacehorse Hello Joe, thanks for writing in. We strongly believe in the conditioning skills of our trainers and if they think that running on the turf may suit the horse, we typically have a discussion internally with our racing managers and head of racing to confirm that sentiment, and almost always we follow the advice of the trainer. Some horses are bred to suit the turf - Carrothers for example. He came out of England running on the synthetic, a surface that often parallels turf, and is by a dual surface G1 winner. It was a natural step for his debut in America. Now that we know he is not fond of the turf we will move toward dirt or synthetic for his next start, as advised by his trainer.

Payouts ?

If a horse runs and it still has shares available to purchase, is the payout calculated on the actual shares sold or from the share offering allotment? It seems from my calculation the allotted shares! If the allotment why so? Does not seem fair to the Owners ? I am certain it would not raise the payout but by a few cents or at least until the full share allotment is sold. It would seem management should take the risk of not having not sold a full allotment of shares. They do offer a couple of hundred thousand over their purchase price for all expenses. Especially if they partner with another horseman i am sure they share the horse expenses with them. If not shame on them.

MyRacehorse Hello Rich, thanks for inquiring. The distributions are based off of the full allotment of shares that are in the offering. Existing owners are only responsible for their pro-rata share of expenses which are included in the one time upfront payment. Therefore owners are only eligible for their pro rata portion of the purse distributions. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at support@myracehorse.com.

Carrothers Disappoints

Hopes (mine) were high when Carrothers went to the post today. Pre-race he seemed to be on his toes, but he broke slowly, and ran wide most of the way. Carrothers appeared rank throughout most of the race and struggled home out of the frame - the picture frame! The turf was not his friend. That's racing. At least it didn't rain!

MyRacehorse Loren, thanks for writing in. While we were disappointed with the effort by Carrothers, we are still very excited to see how his US career progresses. As a son of dual surface G1W Mshawish, we wanted to try Carrothers on the turf to see if he took to the surface. He was successful over the synthetic in England, which often parallels to success on the turf, so we knew we had to try him there. Going forward we will look for a dirt race for him. Trainer Bill Mott is a ultimate professional and we have faith he will sort out how to get the best performance from the colt.

50 Years of Owning and Racing

I raced my own horses for 50 years starting in the 70s at the the old Cahokia Downs in East St Louis, IL. I probably made a decent profit in about 5 or those years. For the last year or so I gradually phased out of my stable as I didn't want my heirs to be burdened with it. MyRacehorse is a great substitute as it gives me partial ownership of horses to own and bet knowing that if I should get ill or die, MyRacehorse won't be dunning my family for money...

MyRacehorse George, it is wonderful that you have been involved in racing for so many years, and we are so happy you have been able to find fulfillment for your passion through our product!

Playing to Win!

I have invested over 10thousand in my 6 horse. I play to win. I have in six months got return of $750. But I have two promising two year olds and one Breeder's Cup runner that is worth twice what I paid. I am looking forward to next year watching my 4 2yolds run. The bad news is that one of my horses had to be retired due to injury Star Six Nine.

MyRacehorse Alfred, so glad you are enjoying the experience. Best of luck with your stable!
